A sophisticated wine submission platform serving some of the world's most prestigious competitions – built on years of partnership with CUBE Communications.
CUBE Communications brought us in to build a sophisticated platform for Tesco – giving suppliers from across the world the ability to submit wines across some of the world's most prestigious competitions: the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), the International Wine Challenge (IWC), the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), and separate Press Tastings. The brief demanded global supplier access, multi-user team logins, large volumes of submissions, and seamless two-way sync with existing Microsoft 365 workflows – all without adding operational overhead for the internal team.
Our relationship with CUBE Communications – a leading agency working with major retailers and drinks brands – began with the Tesco Wine Fair, one of the UK's most popular consumer wine events. Between 2015 and 2017, we built and managed the event websites, handling workshop ticket bookings and managing demand as up to 15,000 visitors per year attended events across five cities in the UK. As our partnership with CUBE grew, so did the ambition of the briefs – and in 2023 we took on the most complex project yet.
Launched in 2023, the Press Tasting & Competition platform is a bespoke WordPress application purpose-built for Tesco's buying and competitions team. Suppliers from across the world log in to submit wines for whichever competitions they're entering, with multi-user functionality allowing multiple team members per supplier organisation to collaborate on submissions.
The platform features passwordless login for a seamless supplier experience, and two-way data sync with Microsoft 365 via the Microsoft Graph API – supplier submissions flow directly into the team's existing workflows, eliminating manual data handling across hundreds of entries. Multi-role authentication gives suppliers, internal administrators and competition organisers appropriate access levels throughout the process. Since launch we've continued to evolve the platform, adding the Microsoft Graph API integration and passwordless login to further streamline the experience.
We continue to support the platform on an ongoing basis through our partnership with CUBE Communications – maintaining the site, supporting each submission window, and evolving the platform as competition requirements change year on year.
