The Challenge

Managing life-changing grants on paper

Little Lifts supports breast cancer patients across the UK through their Kindness Fund – providing grants to help cover everyday costs during treatment. Before 2024, the entire application process was managed manually: paper forms, email chains, and spreadsheets. As demand grew, so did the operational burden on a small, passionate team. Applications were slow to process, data was fragmented, and there was no secure way to manage sensitive patient information at scale.

What We Built

The Little Kindness Fund Portal

We designed and built a bespoke, secure web application – purpose-built for Little Lifts and the medical professionals who support their patients. The portal enables NHS staff to submit and manage grant applications on behalf of patients, with a full admin dashboard for the Little Lifts team to review, process, and report on applications.

Security was paramount throughout. The system uses AWS encryption for all sensitive data, with 2FA and passwordless login for medical professionals. It integrates with Blackbaud eTapestry CRM via the API, working seamlessly with their existing workflows. The Postmark API powers all transactional emails, ensuring reliable delivery of confirmations, updates, and notifications.
